I taught my daughter how to eat sushi a few years ago.
We went to this little dive sushi place in a local strip mall and got trained by “Sushi Momma”.
“Fold your chopstick paper just like this to hold your chopsticks off of the table.”
“Only stir the wasabi into your soy sauce with a clockwise motion.”
“Cleanse your pallate with the ginger after every bite.”
There was a constant barrage of little sushi customs and rules.
Sushi Momma was very serious and stern…
My daughter was laughing under her breath.
…and there was some story from Sushi Momma about “Bob” and why we should write a note to (dearly departed) Bob before we left and put it in the memorial she showed us.
It was quite the experience, especially if you had never eaten sushi..
my daughter was hooked.
It’s fun times like these you remember in life.
